China's Crude Steel Production in July 2002: 15,189,800 tons 

 

 
    According to the latest statistics, China's crude steel production of July 2002 continued the upward trend set in the past months, with a total production of 15,189,800 tons, representing a 23.24% increase from the same period of last year. The Year-to-date (YTD) figure was set at 10,020,950 tons, up 21.89% from the same period of last year.
    
    Of the total production, finished steel products accounted for 15,652,600 tons, up 17.01% from same period last year. YTD figures at 107,594,300 tons also show a 19.38% increase over the same period last year. In the breakdown by items, rail products 171,700 tons, up 2.02% and YTD figures (1,129,900 tons) up 22.79%; wire rods totaled 3,000,060 tons, up 18.39% and YTD figures (20,090,020 tons) up 19.86%; medium & heavy plates totaled 1,990,300 tons, up 14.87% and YTD figures (14,076,000 tons) up 18.94%; sheet products totaled 1,885,700 tons, up 11.23% and YTD figures (12,775,900 tons) up 11.4%; strip products totaled 1,128,000 tons, up 23.67% and YTD figures (7,260,400 tons) up 22.27%; seamless pipes totaled 486,100 tons, up 16.68% and YTD figures (3,539,100 tons) up 21.34%; welded pipes totaled 495,700 tons, up 10.8% and YTD figures (3,504,000 tons) up 10.30%.
