According to the latest statistics, China¨s crude steel
production of August 2005 continued upward trend set in the past month, with
total production of 30,456,300 tons, up 26.8% from the same period of last
year. The year to date (YDT) figure was set at 224,849,500 tons, up 28.2%.
Of the total production, finished steel products accounted for 32,694,900
tons, up 27.6%; YTD figures at 236,2111,000 tons, up 26.2%. In the breakdown
by items, rail products 278,400 tons, up 29.2% and YTD figures (2,078,900
tons) up 15%; wire rod totaled 5,317,000 tons, up 23.7% and YTD figures
(38,783,300 tons) up 22.4%; heavy plate totaled 1,004,700 tons, up 40.8% and
YTD figures (6,903,700 tons) up 26.9%; hot rolled sheet totaled 306,000
tons, up 38.7% and YTD figures (2,208,200 tons) up 36.7%; cold rolled sheet
totaled 715,900 tons, up 28.4% and YTD figures (5,164,600 tons) up 20.9%;
galvanized sheet (strip) totaled 660,100 tons, up 17.2% and YTD figures
(4,737,300 tons) up 33.2%; seamless pipes totaled 866,900 tons, up 25.9% and
YTD figures (6,630,200 tons) up 22.9%; welded pipes totaled 1,516,000 tons,
up 49% and YTD figures (9,669,900 tons) up 28.3%.
