According to the latest statistics, China¨s crude steel production of October 2004 continued upward trend set in the past month, with total production of 24,936,800 tons, up 25.4% from the same period of last year. The year to date (YDT) figure was set at 219,110,000 tons, up 22%.
Of the total production, finished steel products accounted for 26,756,800 tons, up 21.5%; YTD figures at 241,510,900 tons, up 22.9%. In the breakdown by items, rail products 219,200 tons, up 36.7% and YTD figures (2,091,200 tons) up 15.5%; wire rod totaled 4,583,100 tons, up 24.9% and YTD figures (40,237,700 tons) up 20.4%; heavy plate totaled 664,900 tons, up 4% and YTD figures (6,635,600tons) up 32.1%; seamless pipes totaled 781,000 tons, up 14.7% and YTD figures (7,434,800 tons) up 24%; welded pipes totaled 1,029,100 tons, up 7.4% and YTD figures (9,768,900tons) up 17.5%.
