China¨s Crude Steel Production in August 2004: 23,356,300 tons

 

 
    
According to the latest statistics, China¨s crude steel production of August 2004 continued upward trend set in the past month, with total production of 23,356,300 tons, up 21.78% from the same period of last year. The year to date (YDT) figure was set at 170,094,400 tons, up 21.09%.
Of the total production, finished steel products accounted for 25,422,000 tons, up 22.91%; YTD figures at 187,268,500 tons, up 22.61%. In the breakdown by items, rail products 211,800 tons, up 15.17% and YTD figures (1,648,400 tons) up 12.43%; wire rod totaled 4,214,100 tons, up 17.44% and YTD figures (31,183,800 tons) up 19%; heavy plate totaled 696,200 tons, up 36.3% and YTD figures (5,273,300 tons) up 37.72%; hot rolled sheet totaled 238,700 tons, up 19.77% and YTD figures (1,959,300 tons) up 26.34%; cold rolled sheet totaled 615,500 tons, up 25.77% and YTD figures (4,213,700 tons) up 20.89%; galvanized sheet/strip totaled 458,000 tons up 50.36% and YTD figures (3,086,300 tons) up 44.03%; electrical sheet/strip totaled 132,400 tons, up 11.35% and YTD figures (996,600 tons) up 6.83%; seamless pipes totaled 748,900 tons, up 18.72% and YTD figures (5,840,100 tons) up 24.7%; welded pipes totaled 975,900 tons, up 7.43% and YTD figures (7,546,200 tons) up 17.25%.
