According to the latest statistics, China¨s crude steel production of June 2004 continued upward trend compared to the same period of last year, with total production of 20,797,600 tons, up 13.8%. The year to date (YDT) figure was set at 124,749,000 tons, up 21.1%.
Of the total production, finished steel products accounted for 23,574,900 tons, up 17.3%; YTD figures at 137,217,200 tons, up 23.2%. In the breakdown by items, rail products 209,700 tons, down 3.7% and YTD figures (1,219,500 tons) up 14.4%; wire rod totaled 3,898,500 tons, up 13.7% and YTD figures (22,868,800 tons) up 20.2%; medium and heavy plate totaled 1,408,300 tons, up 5.1% and YTD figures (8,935,400 tons) up 11.4%; seamless pipes totaled 785,200 tons, up 20.7% and YTD figures (4,347,200tons) up 26.9%; welded pipes totaled 1,239,200 tons, up 25.5% and YTD figures (5,561,700 tons) up 20.1%.
