According to the latest statistics, China's crude steel production of January 2004 continued upward trend set in the past month, up 25.5% from the same period of last year.
Of the total production, finished steel products accounted for 21,183,400 tons, up 27.5%. In the breakdown by items, rail products 164,600 tons, up 16%; wire rod 3,500,400 tons, up 14.7%; heavy plate totaled 613,100 tons, up 58%; seamless pipes totaled 577,300 tons, up 24.2%; welded pipes totaled 591,100 tons, up 15.7%; electric steel totaled 118,400 tons, up 15.6%; coating sheet 69,400 tons, up 25.3%.
