According to the latest statistics, China's crude steel production of October 2003 continued upward trend set in the past month, with total production of 19,816,500 tons, up 25.01% from the same period of last year. The year to date (YDT) figure was set at 179,596,500 tons, up 22.05%.
Of the total production, finished steel products accounted for 21,462,900 tons, up 28.86%; YTD figures at 191,877,300 tons, up 20.48%. In the breakdown by items, rail products 153,400 tons, up 7.72% and YTD figures (1,567,700 tons) down 1.43%; wire rod totaled 3,588,300 tons, up 14.91% and YTD figures (33,035,200 tons) up 12.87%; medium and heavy plate totaled 2,998,400 tons, up 41.78% and YTD figures (26,761,100 tons) up 30.88%; sheet products totaled 2,072,400 tons, up 7.03% and YTD figures (19,786,800 tons) up 5.62%; seamless pipes totaled 627,800 tons, up 28.28 and YTD figures (5,723,300 tons) up 12.11%; welded pipes totaled 865,800 tons, up 30.88% and YTD figures (8,179,400 tons) up 24.54%.
