China's Crude Steel Production in May 2003: 18,449,200 tons

 

 
    
According to the latest statistics, China's crude steel production of May 2003 continued the upward trend set in the past months, with a total production of 18,449,200 tons, representing a 20.93% increase from the same period of last year. The Year-to-date (YTD) figure was set at 84,555,700 tons, up 20.22% from the same period of last year.
Of the total production, finished steel products accounted for 19,752,900 tons, up 15.58% from same period last year. YTD figures at 89,250,500 tons also show a 16.86% increase over the same period last year. In the breakdown by items, rail products 182,300 tons, up 12.18% and YTD figures (734,500 tons) down 7.42%; wire rods totaled 3,398,900 tons, up 11.82% and YTD figures (15,439,200 tons) up 9.22%; medium & heavy plates totaled 2,800,400 tons, up 30.05% and YTD figures (12,262,600 tons) up 21.62%; sheet products totaled 1,853,400 tons, down 6.43% and YTD figures (9,789,300 tons) up 8.08%; seamless pipes totaled 584,800 tons, up 2.43% and YTD figures (2,694,400 tons) up 6.37%; welded pipes totaled 1,025,200 tons, up 24.96% and YTD figures (3,738,200 tons) up 27.44%.
