China's Crude Steel Production in February 2003: 15,534,000 tons 

 

 
    
According to the latest statistics, China's crude steel production of February 2003 continued the upward trend set in the past months, with a total production of 15,534,000 tons, representing a 19.02% increase from the same period of last year. The Year-to-date (YTD) figure was set at 31,181,400 tons, up 17.09% from the same period of last year.

Of the total production, finished steel products accounted for 15,822,500 tons, up 19.83% from same period last year. YTD figures at 32,297,700 tons also show a 17.59% increase over the same period last year. In the breakdown by items, rail products 128,500 tons, down 0.96% and YTD figures (252,400 tons) down 14.82%; wire rods totaled 2,783,300 tons, up 11.98% and YTD figures (5,777,000 tons) up 10.02%; medium & heavy plates totaled 2,258,900 tons, up 22.27% and YTD figures (4,568,200 tons) up 20.06%; sheet products totaled 1,836,800 tons, up 13.09% and YTD figures (3,946,400 tons) up 15.69%; strip products totaled 1,557,700 tons, up 85.6% and YTD figures (2,818,700 tons) up 59.71%; seamless pipes totaled 452,700 tons, up 5.48% and YTD figures (939,900 tons) up 6.88%; welded pipes totaled 521,500 tons, up 41.17% and YTD figures (1,096,700 tons) up 27.38%.
