From Jan to Dec of 2007, the crude
steel output in China reached 489 million tons, increasing 66,252,200 tons
(15.66%) from that of 2006. In calendar year 2007, China produced finished
steel of 565 million tons (including the double counting steel), increasing
104,428,400 tons (22.69%) with the same comparison, and the output in Dec
came to 49.804 million tons. In 2007, China had an output of pig iron of 470
million tons, up 1.31 times. The output had an increase of 61,892,200 tons
from that of 2006.
In the breakdown by products, China produced 77,053,000 tons of flats in
2007, increasing 34.33% from that of 2006; 266,169,400 tons of longs, up
17.43%; 140,578,600 tons of strips, up 27.01%; 20,717,900 tons of plating
steel, up 37.62%; 42,240,700 tons of pipes and tubes, up 15.37%; 10,292,500
tons of other steel products, up 45.34%; and 3,407,100 tons of rails, up
1.72%.
