China produced crude steel of 320.53 million tons
during January to August of 2007, having increased by 17.74% from a year ago
while the growth rate slowed down month by month, produced pig iron of
307.53 million tons, up 16.34%, steel products (including double counting
steels) of 366.97 million tons, up 24.1%.
By type, sheet output was 50.30 million tons (excluding strip), up 40.65%;
long products 172.09 million tons, up 17.16%; strip 91.38 million tons, up
27.22%; galvanized and coating steel 15.35 million tons, up 53.15%; pipe
27.17 million tons, up 17.92%; other steel 5.80 million tons, up 51.64%.
