According to the latest statistics, China¨s crude
steel production of July 2006 stood at 36,090,600 tons, up 22.2% from the
same period of last year. The year to date (YDT) figure was set at
198,522,200 tons, up 18.9%; that of finished steel totaled 38,659,800 tons,
up 22.5% and YTD figures totaled 259,895,500 tons, up 25.1%.
In the breakdown by items, rail products 258,300 tons, down 5.9% and YTD
figures (1,854,400 tons) up 6.7%; wire rod totaled 6,252,000 tons, up 24.7%
and YTD figures (40,143,600 tons) up 19.4%; heavy plate totaled
1,203,500tons, up 19.3% and YTD figures (7,211,100 tons) up 22.2%; hot
rolled sheet totaled 515,900 tons, up 134% and YTD figures (2,734,000 tons)
up 50.4%; cold rolled sheet totaled 1,134,600 tons, up 68.1% and YTD figures
(6,887,900 tons) up 55.5%; galvanized sheet (strip) totaled 1,116,300 tons,
up 50.6% and YTD figures (7,057,800 tons) up 46.1%; seamless pipes totaled
1,278,100tons, up 29.1% and YTD figures (8,443,500 tons) up 34.2%; welded
pipes totaled 1,755,700 tons, up 14.3% and YTD figures (11,803,500 tons) up
29.9%.
