According to the latest statistics, China¨s crude steel
production of April 2005 continued upward trend set in the past month, with
total production of 28,085,800 tons, up 25.4% from the same period of last
year. The year to date (YDT) figure was set at 105,938,700 tons, up 24.8%.
Of the total production, finished steel products accounted for 29,530,900
tons, up 23.75%; YTD figures at 112,033,100 tons, up 23.3%. In the breakdown
by items, rail products 250,400 tons, up 20.85% and YTD figures (969,500
tons) up 23.8%; wire rod totaled 4,847,100 tons, up 22.93% and YTD figures
(18,266,600 tons) up 19.7%; heavy plate totaled 816,400 tons, up 27.72% and
YTD figures (3,097,000 tons) up 20.7%; hot rolled sheet totaled 284,900
tons, up 28.91% and YTD figures (1,088,500 tons) up 34.2%; cold rolled sheet
totaled 646,500 tons, up 19.46% and YTD figures (2,497,300 tons) up 23.3%;
galvanized sheet (strip) totaled 533,000 tons, up 22.22% and YTD figures
(2,152,900 tons) up 34.5%; seamless pipes totaled 830,500 tons, up 0.96% and
YTD figures (3,069,600 tons) up 15.7%; welded pipes totaled 1,234,100 tons,
up 9.57% and YTD figures (4,044,500tons) up 19.2%.
