According to the latest statistics, China¨s crude steel
production of January 2005 continued upward trend set in the past month,
with total production of 27,543,900 tons, up 24.1% from the same period of
last year. The year to date (YDT) figure was set at 77,786,00 tons, up
23.8%.
Of the total production, finished steel products accounted for 30,654,800
tons, up 26.9%; YTD figures at 82,534,800 tons, up 22.4%. In the breakdown
by items, rail products 258,600 tons, up 19.6% and YTD figures (705,100
tons) up 23.6%; wire rod totaled 4,973,200 tons, up 21.9% and YTD figures
(13,309,700 tons) up 17.9%; heavy plate totaled 831,800 tons, up 22.3% and
YTD figures (2,279,900 tons) up 18.3%; hot rolled sheet totaled 267,900
tons, up 32.8% and YTD figures (790,000 tons) up 36.1%; cold rolled sheet
totaled 691,300 tons, up 16.3% and YTD figures (1,856,000 tons) up 24.8%;
galvanized sheet (strip) totaled 550,800 tons, up 18.6% and YTD figures
(1,620,500 tons) up 39.7%; seamless pipes totaled 781,400 tons, up 10.3% and
YTD figures (2,238,900 tons) up 17.3%; welded pipes totaled 893,600 tons,
down 4.1% and YTD figures (2,768,300tons) up 20.5%.
