According to the latest statistics, China¨s crude steel production of October 2004 continued upward trend set in the past month, with total production of 25,035,500 tons, up 21.2% from the same period of last year. The year to date (YDT) figure was set at 245,293,100 tons, up 22.1%.
Of the total production, finished steel products accounted for 27,890,300 tons, up 23.5%; YTD figures at 269,628,500 tons, up 23%. In the breakdown by items, rail products totaled 275,500 tons, up 64.5% and YTD figures (2,466,800 tons) up 24.7%; rebar totaled 4,412,900 tons, up 23.7% and YTD figures (42,223,300 tons) up 16.7%; wire rod totaled 4,586,700 tons, up 27.6% and YTD figures (44,846,400 tons) up 21.2%; heavy plate totaled 629,500 tons, up 2.1% and YTD figures (7,264,800tons) up 28.8%; seamless pipes totaled 831,900 tons, up 28.4% and YTD figures (8,266,500 tons) up 24.4%; welded pipes totaled 1,143,300 tons, up 6.9% and YTD figures (10,915,100tons) up 16.1%.
