According to the latest statistics, China¨s crude steel production of July 2004 continued upward trend set in the past month, with total production of 21,987,900 tons, up 20.33% from the same period of last year. The year to date (YDT) figure was set at 146,737,000 tons, up 20.97%.
Of the total production, finished steel products accounted for 24,320,500 tons, up 18.53%; YTD figures at 161,786,500 tons, up 22.54%. In the breakdown by items, rail products 217,000 tons, up 1.26% and YTD figures (1,436,600 tons) up 12.04%; wire rod totaled 4,088,100 tons, up 16.67% and YTD figures (26,939,500 tons) up 19.16%; heavy plate totaled 688,100 tons, up 34.53% and YTD figures (4,577,400tons) up 37.94%; seamless pipes totaled 754,900 tons, up 19.5% and YTD figures (5,094,100 tons) up 25.53%; welded pipes totaled 1,003,500 tons, up 13.42% and YTD figures (6,568,300tons) up 19.09%.
