China's Crude Steel Production in August 2003: 18,946,100 tons

 

 
    
According to the latest statistics, China's crude steel production of August 2003 continued the upward trend set in the past months, with a total production of 18,946,100 tons, representing a 22.4% increase from the same period of last year. The Year-to-date (YTD) figure was set at 140,409,200 tons, up 21.05% from the same period of last year.
Of the total production, finished steel products accounted for 20,204,400 tons, up 18.95% from same period last year. YTD figures at 149,858,600 tons show a 18.78% increase over the same period last year. In the breakdown by items, rail products 167,200 tons, up 8.93% and YTD figures (1,263,300 tons) down 1.83%; wire rods totaled 3,577,500 tons, up 15.17% and YTD figures (25,919,300 tons) up 11.73%; medium & heavy plates totaled 2,886,500 tons, up 33.86% and YTD figures (20,921,000 tons) up 29.03%; sheet products totaled 2,063,600 tons, up 5.9% and YTD figures (15,661,900 tons) up 5.93%; seamless pipes totaled 599,400 tons, up 13.31% and YTD figures (4,508,800 tons) up 9.06%; welded pipes totaled 927,100 tons, up 18.51% and YTD figures (6,428,400 tons) up 22.41%.
