China's Crude Steel Production in October 2002: 15,663,900 tons

 

 
    
   
According to the latest statistics, China's crude steel production of October 2002 continued the upward trend set in the past months, with a total production of 15,663,900 tons, representing a 20.88% increase from the same period of last year. The Year-to-date (YTD) figure was set at 146,526,100 tons, up 22.3% from the same period of last year.

    Of the total production, finished steel products accounted for 16,529,000 tons, up 19.39% from same period last year. YTD figures at 157,268,100 tons also show a 19.97% increase over the same period last year. In the breakdown by items, rail products 144,000 tons, down 7.75% and YTD figures (1,583,700 tons) up 14.23%; wire rods totaled 3,134,800 tons, up 17.62% and YTD figures (29,218,300 tons) up 19.33%; medium & heavy plates totaled 2,117,800 tons, up 29.66% and YTD figures (20,437,300 tons) up 21.64%; sheet products totaled 1,933,300 tons, up 42.57% and YTD figures (15,956,700 tons) up 17.03%; strip products totaled 1,403,300 tons, up 43.15% and YTD figures (11,487,000 tons) up 28.72%; seamless pipes totaled 498,700 tons, up 22.56% and YTD figures (5,027,700 tons) up 19.48%; welded pipes totaled 567,500 tons, down 11.31% and YTD figures (5,316,600 tons) up 9.31%.
