China¨s Steel Production in May 2006: 35,934,100 tons

 

 
  According to the latest statistics, China¨s steel production of May 2006 stood at 35,934,100 tons, up 19.6% from the same period of last year. The year to date (YDT) figure was set at 162,684,900 tons, up 18.6%.
In the breakdown by items, rail products 253,300 tons, up 12.5% and YTD figures (1,282,000 tons) up 11.7%; wire rod totaled 6,037,100 tons, up 15.2% and YTD figures (27,600,500 tons) up 17.6%; heavy plate totaled 1,096,00tons, up 22% and YTD figures (4,876,700 tons) up 22.1%; hot rolled sheet totaled 523,900 tons, up 82.5% and YTD figures (1,746,200 tons) up 28.3%; cold rolled sheet totaled 1,049,000 tons, up 46.6% and YTD figures (4,506,200 tons) up 48.2%; galvanized sheet (strip) totaled 1,070,900 tons, up 48.9% and YTD figures (4,731,000 tons) up 42%; seamless pipes totaled 1,230,800tons, up 25.7% and YTD figures (5,819,300 tons) up 34.5%; welded pipes totaled 1,883,300 tons, up 29.9% and YTD figures (7,899,100 tons) up 30.5%.
