According to the latest statistics, China¡¯s
crude steel production of December 2005 continued upward trend set in the
past month, with total production of 32,041,400 tons, up 16.2% from the same
period of last year. The year to date (YDT) figure was set at 349,361,500
tons, up 24.6%.
Of the total production, finished steel products accounted for 33,727,200
tons, up 17.4%; YTD figures at 371,170,200 tons, up 24.1%. In the breakdown
by items, rail products 239,100 tons, up 11.2% and YTD figures (3,188,500
tons) up 16.8%; wire rod totaled 5,804,800 tons, up 26.7% and YTD figures
(60,510,900 tons) up 20.6%; heavy plate totaled 997,200tons, up 38% and YTD
figures (10,801,900 tons) up 31.5%; hot rolled sheet totaled 318,100 tons,
up 22.5% and YTD figures (3,286,400 tons) up 16.1%; cold rolled sheet
totaled 803,600 tons, up 32.7% and YTD figures (8,178,000 tons) up 21.8%;
galvanized sheet (strip) totaled 756,800 tons, up 20.6% and YTD figures
(8,472,700 tons) up 43%; seamless pipes totaled 959,100tons, up 27.4% and
YTD figures (10,470,500 tons) up 23.5%; welded pipes totaled 1,289,900 tons,
up 11.3% and YTD figures (15,670,600 tons) up 20.4%.£¨from primary
