China Iron & Steel Association
(CISA at

is a national, non-profitable organization founded on 21st
1999 on the basis of China Metallurgical Enterprise Management
Association. CISA members consist of China¡¯s steel enterprises,
institutions, societies and individuals in the iron and steel industry,
which participate the organization voluntarily according to certain
regulations. CISA now has over 119 group members whose steel output,
sales income and staff number account 92.6%, 90% and 75% respectively of
the total in the domestic steel industry. CISA is made up of 7
administrative bodies with 30 staff and 7 working committees.
CISA¡¯s
responsibility is
to link Chinese iron & steel industry with the government, to provide
¡°two-way services¡± to Chinese steelmakers, institutions as well as to
explore cooperation opportunities with overseas companies and
organizations.
Main
functions of CISA:
1.
To lay down industry
regulations and agreements; to coordinate with steel enterprises in
reorganization, market expansion, price negotiation in the same field
and product import and export; to promote fair competition and protect
interests of the whole field.
2.
To carry out steel industry
researches and provide consultative suggestion for strengthening
government macro coordination and management. Trusted by competent
authorities, CISA participates in the preparatory work of drafting
development plans, policies and regulations in steel industry.
3.
To organize and partake in
collecting, arranging, analyzing and releasing the information on
domestic and international steel markets, operation management, economy
and technology. To provide consultation, analysis and comment on the
operation and management, developing strategy, economic and
technological indexes of the members. To summarize, advertise and
popularize advanced experience.
4.
To involve in formulating
and revising technological, economic and managing standards and
regulations of the steel industry; to perform guild inspection, comment
and supervision over product quality and provide licenses in steel
industry for steel production.
5.
Entrusted by the government,
members and the society, CISA verifies at the first stage on the
advanced level, economic characters and feasibility for large projects
to be invested in, modified and developed so as to update technology.
6.
To organize and promote
concerned training to enhance staff professional and technological
capability.
7.
Representing the iron and
steel industry of China, CISA takes part in concerned activities hosted
by international organizations of the same trade to promote the exchange
and cooperation of foreign economy and technology.
8.
To undertake other
governmental matters and provide concerned special services trusted by
members and the society.
